Nothing but hardcore ghost huntin'

Clonony Castle

This small medieval marvel was with in five minutes drive from our cottage on the river Shannon . It was built of Limestone in the sixteenth century by the Mac Coughlans renowned castle builders . It has a four story , fifty foot tall tower that seems to be in the process of reconstruction . Surrounding the tower is a bawn constructed in the nineteenth century . Below the castle is a cave where buried are Elizabeth and Mary Boleyn two cousins of Anne Boleyn , one of the wives of Henry VIII . Anne's daughter would eventually become Queen Elizabeth I . The haunting is not that of the cousins , but of a skeletal man in old fashioned dress that is seen in the tower windows . He looks down on you with a luminous green spectral light surrounding him . The castle is very near the road and passers by report this specter often . Unfortunately I was unable to return here after dark to document this haunting . Upon my return later this year I will add to this page any video or stills captured .
