Nothin' but hardcore ghost huntin'

Dryburgh Abbey and Mantle House

The haunting that occurs here is said to be from the 16th century . From the graveyards of Dryburgh Abbey you can see the Dryburgh Hotel which is the site of a previous structure .A lady living at the house is said to have fallen in love with a monk from the Abbey . Their secret love lasted for some time . The Abbott was told of the affair and had the monk sentenced to death for his actions . The lady would have clearly seen the hanging from the mansion windows . When she could not take the pain of losing her true love she threw herself over the bridge into the river Tweed . She is said to be the "Grey Lady" that appears in the road , on the bridge and in the manor , especially when renovations are being carried out in the mansion . The Abbey is said to be haunted by many monks .The Abbey ruins date from the 12th century and sit on bank of the river Tweed . Dryburgh Hotel is directly across the graveyard .
